The Local Government Unit of Katipunan is now embarking on  the provision on different livelihood projects especially on food processing as alternative source of income to our farmers and fisherfolks  eventually helping them improve their quality of life.

The New Tambo Rural Improvement Club Association of Barangay Tambo of this Municipality is one of the lucky recipients of  a livelihood project with the P500K worth of equipment and materials grant from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) thru its Yamang Pinoy program under the Bottom-up Budgeting project of the national government.

On September 17-19, 2018, a training on root crops processing was conducted by Ms. Susan Q. Empeynado, a Cassava Consultant, to the 35 members of the organization. At the same time turn-over of the purchased equipment and materials was done by the DTI and LGU-Katipunan to the association.

Mr. Desmark G. Malate, the DTI Representative, had manifested their support to the organization in enhancing  the members’ skills on some aspects on food processing including  packaging and marketing, while Hon. Kagawad Felix D. Tagbac, representing the Local Government of Katipunan, was anticipating that the project will bring more hopes  of prosperity not only to the members’ respective families but also to the whole community and to the town of Katipunan, as well.

The RIC President, Ms. Mercedita D. Laput, had conveyed on behalf of the association, her gratefulness to the Department of Trade and Industry for the grant they have received and to the LGU-Katipunan  Honorable Mayor Patchito T. Eguia, for identifying their association as beneficiary of the program. She added, that they will make their best as they can to make the association become better while improving the quality of life to all of their members, as what has been expected of them.
