In order to provide the Katipuneros and its neighboring municipalities a better place to interact with social and economic activities, a new two-storey Public Market building is set to rise soon.
The ongoing construction of the new Public Market is located at the seaside of Brgy. Uno, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte (in back of the Municipal Gymnasium) with a 30-Million contract for 348 calendar days. The project is funded through a loan agreement with the Land Bank of the Philippines and has started its construction on December 29, 2017 and is expected to be open to the public before the 105th Araw ng Katipunan on February 2, 2019.
“We are in deep gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Katipunan for giving time in making this project possible as this would be very beneficial not just to us tenants, but as well as to the market-goers,” Ruel Mueco, owner of “Boy Meat Dealer”, a five-year tenant of the old public market said.
“If there would be things we look forward to in the new Public Market, those would probably be; good environment with better ventilation of our respective stalls, a good source of water facility and a better place of disposal of our waste materials,” Mueco added.
As of July 31, 2018, the accomplishment of the project is at 40% and is set to be finished by the last quarter of this year, giving the Katipuneros a glimpse of its Public Market’s new face. Accordingly, the presence of the new public market would spur economic activities in our locality encouraging investors in our neighboring areas.
