February of every year is considered Civil Registration Month. Activities such as Free Service Day, Kasalan ng Bayan, Mobile Civil Registration and other related to civil registration activities.

A Kasalan ng Bayan highlighted this year’s  Civil Registration Month celebration thru the initiative of  the personnel of the Municipal Civil Registrar’s Office who handled the affair smoothly from information dissemination  down to the actual day of the event.

Prescribed under Article 34 of the Family Code, a man and a woman who have lived together as husband and wife for five years or more without the benefit of marriage can apply for marriage without securing a marriage license through an Affidavit of Cohabitation. On February 24, 2020, twenty six (26) couples who have been living under the same roof for at least  five years without the benefit of marriage had their wedding sponsored by the Local Government Unit from the venue, food and beverages and the cake and wine for the rituals. It was solemnized by the Hon. Mayor Patchito T. Eguia and was witnessed by the couples’ sponsors, family and friends as well as invited guests.

After the ceremony, giveaways still sponsored by the LGU, were given to all newlyweds.

On February 27, 2020 this municipality’s Free Service Day was held in compliance to the Ordinance No. 97-05 Series of 1997, where every fourth Tuesday of  February of each year will be the Free Service Day which means that all services related to civil registration are free of charge.

Kasalan ng Bayan was an undertaking of the Local Government Unit to help facilitate the marriage of couples without expenses incurred and to help them in registering their children without hassle. With a positive response from the general public, the Office of the MCR is now planning to make the event annually as one of the Civil Registration Month’s highlights.
