A More Farmer-Friendly Building in the Making

Proper infrastructure allows employees to have better access to work, good working environment  eventually boosting their morale producing better work performance, as well as, it also would spur economic opportunities especially in fast-growing communities. These are just some of the reasons for the completion of the 2-storey  building of Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of this Local Government Unit.

The Municipal Agriculture Office of the Local Government Unit of Katipunan  in its mandate, has been committed in providing and promoting appropriate agricultural technologies, extensive community-based extension and support services through the our  Local Chief Executive with the  active partnerships of the different National, Local Government Agencies, Non-Government Organizations, cooperatives and other resource institutions with various programs/services.

Three years after assumption to office by the OIC-Municipal Agriculturist, Mr. Gerardo D. Candelasa,  the building is now on its completion stage with  a contract  amount of Php 744,851.00.  The  construction is programmed at 65 calendar days which was started on August 1, 2018 and is set to be done by the end of the current year.

The  project is funded out of the 3-year (2016-2018) appropriation of the capital outlay of the office with the amount of Php 250,000.00 per year.  The second floor is proposed to be an activity area for holding  gatherings or meetings and seminars with the farmers.

“It is our utmost gratitude to the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Patchito T. Eguia for his full support on this project because it will really be beneficial not just to us who will be using the office but also to our farmers and the people of Katipunan who are the recipients of our services.” Mr. Candelasa said.

“We proposed that the upper floor of the new building will be for meetings and gatherings of farmers because we have observed that whenever there are meetings with them, we often go to other venue because we don’t have our own. Now that we will be having one, we don’t need to search or transfer locations anymore. We also promise that after the renovation of the building, we would be giving better services to our beneficiaries, a well-organized office and employees and a better office to accommodate and cater their needs”, Candelasa added.

Having well-built offices is a sign of growth and stability of the community. The most significant impact a new office building could have is on the employees who will be using it. A better place to provide services to the public gives high morale to the employees as well as on their productivity. The LGU-Katipunan’s Municipal Agriculture Office is now one-step ahead.
